Welcome to AChEGS (Association of Chemical Engineering Graduate Students) at Georgia Tech!
AChEGS is a platform by which graduate students and ChBE’s leadership can communicate. We seek to advocate for the quality of life of students, where they can securely voice their concerns and ideas to improve their experience in the department.
Overall, our mission as AChEGS is to support graduate students by creating opportunities for social engagement, professional development, and service. In pursuit of this mission, AChEGS organizes several recurring events, such as monthly social hours and volunteer activities. AChEGS also provides athletic opportunities, by fielding numerous intramural sports teams that compete against other departments in the GT Graduate League.
AChEGS is also pivotal in bringing ChBE together and making sure first-year students have a smooth transition into our graduate program. Today this is done through 3 main projects:
1) a summer bootcamp course for new students from non-ChemE backgrounds;
2) a mentorship program that connects first-years with senior graduate students; and
3) orientation and practice sessions for students taking the Qualifying Exam as one of the first steps in their graduate career in ChBE.
Hello from the 2024 – 2025 AChEGS Board!
